muskaans post- Reading Response to Purple Hibiscus  Naya's post-Purple hibiscus

PH response

The two topics that I'm keeping up with the book are Parents and tradition. Parents. Kambili's parents are very different from each other. Her dad is more outspoken and her mom stays in the background. The dad is well liked in the community and the community thought he should leave her because she couldn't give him the right amount of kids. Her dad has a bad but well-hidden temper and her mom is very tight-lipped. Papa is so stubborn and stuck in his ways that he exiles his own father because he doesn't believe the same way Papa does. tradition tradition is very important to their family. Everything has to be done a certain way and Papa makes them pray for their sins. The kids always do what their parents tell them to because its the "right" way to do things. It seems like its traditional to have a bundle of kids and when Mama couldn't deliver that,  the unmma wanted Papa to leave her.

Song- Umbrella

"You had my heart, and we'll never be worlds apart Maybe in magazines, but you'll still be my star Baby 'cause in the dark, you can't see shiny cars And that's when you need me there With you, I'll always share Because when the sun shines, we'll shine together Told you I'll be here forever"      The song is Umbrella by Rihanna. link to song . One technique I found is assonance. It was all throughout the portion of the song. it was the "a" vowel. It impacted how I interpreted the song because it made me think about the vowels and the sounds of each line. A figurative language pattern I found is apostrophe . I found it in the third and sixth line of the song. it impacted how I interpreted the song because it proviedes imagery about the sun and the bond they share.      The purpose of the song is to show the love she has for her partner and how loyal she is to him. I feel the tone is very lighthearted but still focused on the messa

Muskaans post- Free Post Seryn's Post

free post - track

I had a track meet last weekend. It was at Catholic High, and my events started at 1:45. I ran in the 4x100 relay, 100-meter dash, and 200-meter dash. I came in 2nd overall for the two dashes. We came in 3rd in our heat for the relay. My time for the 100-meter dash was 13 seconds flat. That my best for the 100. The time for the 200 meter is 32.1 seconds. That's actually my worst time for 200. my best time is 29 seconds.

launch response q 3 w 7

Something that was interesting to me on Friday was the Launch Pad. I liked how open it was for anyone who wanted to could jump in. I also liked the variety of music played. How people read their poems and sang their songs. Some teachers and students that did stuff. I found it interesting that it wasn't just students. The presentation I like the most was Sue Munro's. Hers was about how important learning another language is for students. It's interesting because I agree that people should learn another language. It looks better on resumes and applications. other languages are also becoming more  prominent in today's  society
