100 word story week 7

Sarah is a very inactive girl. Whenever her parents ask her to do something, she makes up some excuse to get out of it. Sarah always stays inside her house and does nothing. Her parents fear she isn't getting enough exercise, as she weighs almost 300 pounds. They try and try to make her do sports or go running, but she always refuses. One day, at Sarah's school, they have an event called Jump Rope for Heart. At first, Sarah thinks its stupid, but then she starts jumping. She then drops one hundred pounds and starts eating healthy. The End.

week seven blog

Harrison Bergeron was this dystopia society that was set in 2081. I just have a few questions. If the beautiful people wore masks all the time, then what did the average person look like? How could General Glampers come to the stage so quickly  and shoot them both down so fast? Is this how the entire world worked now?  Wouldn't the people who had no handicaps feel bad about themselves when they see the people with impairments? And think "Oh they are brilliant, that's why they have more handicaps than me."  They tried to make everyone that was good at something, average at it.       This story reminds me of the book "The Giver. " They are similar because both stories governments have tried to make people equal to one another. In each one there is a main character who tries to fight against the government. Jonas' rebellion lasted long than Harrison's, but nonetheless, they both tried.

United by Naomi Shihab Nye week 5

Naomi has made  a great  number of poems, but I chose this one because the name sounded  strong . What does it mean to be united? That is a question that I have been trying to answer for a while now. Does it mean to be loyal and  true  to yourself? The definition of unity is the state of being unified or joined as a whole. United is about how the different state mottos combine into one. They combine the mottos into one message about unity. She has good sentence fluency throughout her piece. It ties into America being a unified country.

Duck and Goose week 5

Duck and Goose were walking down the street when Duck turns to Goose and says "Hey Goose, I have a few questions for you." "Ok, I'm ready."said Goose "What's up?" said Duck " The sky and the ceiling." answered Goose "No I meant how are you feeling" said Duck "Oh great, actually!"Goose said excitedly "Why?" Duck said inquisitively "It's because I found ten dollars on the ground." uttered Goose  "Really?" said Duck "Yes!" exclaimed Goose "What are you going to do with it?"  said Duck "I don't know, what should I do with it?" "You should give it to me!" duck said gleefully "Oh, you saucy boy!" said Goose

Muskaan's post- Reading Response: Mint Snowball Ellie S's post- Dear Seven Year Old..

Dear younger self week 4

My first year at my last school was the third grade so my advice will be geared towards that time. I also can't remember how old I was in the third-grade so just that general time. The first piece of advice I'd give my third-grade self is to be nice to others around you. You are gonna be stuck with these people for a long time(6+ years), so please enjoy the time you have with them. I know you don't really get why they act so weirdly to each other but you'll get it eventually. So just make friends and be friendly, it could really make a difference.       Another piece of advice to not get caught up in all the "who's whose" at school and if you have a boyfriend or not. Dude, you are way too young for all of that right now so just chill out. Just enjoy your simple homework and the same schedule every day. Man, I so wish I could go back to the third-grade and ace all my tests!

reading response to I'll give you the sun week 4

I haven't finished I'll Give You the Sun  but it is very complicated. It's about these twins named Jude and Noah. Noah is a boy, and Jude is a girl. Noah is very good at sketching/drawing, but is kind of a loner and Jude is more in the "cool kids" crowd. But they are the same in a way because they both are so creative and have very imaginative minds. There was this great art school that their mom wanted them to go to but their dad was stubborn and didn't want them to be outcasts because of the school they went to was mainly focused on the arts. But when they mom died a few weeks later, their dad felt guilty and let them apply for the school.      I haven't really gotten into the main plot yet. But I think it's about how Jude and Noah navigate high school and they deal with their mom's death. It will probably also will be about how they deals with their grandmother's death and all she told them.

reading reponse of the Future of Us :week 3

I haven't finished reading the Future of Us but so far so good. It is about these two teenagers named Emma and Josh, who had been friends and neighbors for as long as they can remember. They drifted apart after Josh misread the situation and made a move on Emma, but Emma did not feel the same way. So Josh being a guy kept her at a distance even though they went to the same school and still had the same friend group. It got very awkward at times, but they made it work.      The setting is in the late 90's. The setting is important because it is about how the two tweenagers saw in the future through facebook though it hadn't been invented yet. There are a lot of words and phrases that we don't use anymore. Like CD-ROM and their old computers. In conclusion, it is a good book so far.

9/11 post week3

September 11th, 2001 was the second most horrible day in American history, after the Pearl Harbor attack. 19 "soldiers" from the terrorist group al-Qaeda hijacked four flights and took them all down. Two crashed in New York City, one crashed just outside Washington D.C, and the last one crashed in Pennsylvania. The two flights that crashed in New York City both flew into the World Trade Center and destroyed it. The flight that crashed just outside Washington D.C flew into the Pentagon. And the last flight crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.       2,996 people died including officers of the law and all 19 of the hijackers from al-Qaeda. 2,763 of the lives claimed was at the World Trade Center and that including all people from both planes. 189 of the lives claimed was at the Pentagon. 44 of the lives claimed on Flight 93 when it crashed-landed in a field in Pennsylvania.
