reading reponse to Written in the Stars

      Written in the Stars is written by Aisha Saeed. It is a book I just finished reading, so the information is still fresh in my memory. It is really about how the main character Naila goes with her family to her family's home country, Pakistani. After of being there for a while, she is pushed and drugged into marriage to someone she did not know. This book is disturbing to me because she is only 17 years old and in, Pakistani this is a regularly recurring thing. She has a younger brother named Irman, and she calls her parents Abi and Abu(that means mother and father).  
     One thing that surprised me while reading this was that her parents were going to wait until the day of the wedding to tell her they were making her get married and to stay in Pakistani her whole life. It's kind of like they sold her to another family and then they went back to America. As I was reading, I realized that this probably goes on all over the world unnoticed. I wonder why they think this is okay to do their daughters and sons. I liked the cover of this book because it looks like Naila is looking up at the stars and that relates to the title of the book.

      After seeing Evan M's blog, I realized that we all have a platform to speak our minds and express our feelings. We can also use it to talk about topics that mean something to us. I am using mine to talk about waffles and pancakes. Yes, I know that sounds silly, right? But this is a serious debate between the two breakfast items.     First off, I have more experience with pancakes so I will try not to be biased. Pancakes are just flat cakes; it's in the name, PAN-CAKES. They are delicious.         My topic is about Mongolian Society under the reign of Genghis Khan in the 13th century.  My research question is: How did Genghis Khan make such a vast empire in such a short period of time and what was that empire like? My topic is interesting because Genghis Khan built one of the only nomadic empires to last. One reason I wanted to research this topic was that I felt like no one really knew anything about the Mongols. People know that they were nomadic and that it.      My subcategories are the Mongol army, what religion they practice, the food they ate, the Mongolian government, and their conquests in the 13th century. The empire matters because they helped start the Slik Road. They opened the entire empire for trade.

      Naomi has made  a great  number of poems, but I chose this one because the name sounded  strong . What does it mean to be united? That is a question that I have been trying to answer for a while now. Does it mean to be loyal and  true  to yourself? The definition of unity is the state of being unified or joined as a whole. United is about how the different state mottos combine into one. They combine the mottos into one message about unity. She has good sentence fluency throughout her piece.
